The merger occurred last July and made perfect sense, according to MacDonald. "It was the same clientele that was coming back and forth," she said. "Often, in fact, gifts were being combined and walked around the corner."
Since Wish closed everything has been much easier for her and her employees, thought it took some of her clients a while to catch on.
Customers can expect the same personalized service -- and one-of-a-kind items. Always popular for babies: blankets, sweaters and fleece jackets, though MacDonald said "anything monogrammed" remains big. In fact, monogrammed items are top sellers in both sections of Twish, baby and gift.
At this time of year, in the gift segment of the store it's acrylic and outdoor season so anything that works outdoors tends to sell well, especially barbecue boards (monogrammed, of course). In the baby section, beach towels and buckets for families are in high demand.
New to the store is a "flower girl" line which MacDonald brought in six weeks ago. "You can customize a basic flower girl dress and take it from a very low price point to a very high-end sort of look," she told Daily Voice. "It’s gotten a great reception, and it makes the bridal party come alive because you can add a little bit more dimension of color."
Twish is located at 88 Purchase St., (914) 921-4860.
